Working with children aged 0-5

There are a number of opportunities within Voluntary and Community sector (VCS) settings to work with children aged 0 – 5.

Many nurseries, child minders and play groups are part of the Private, Voluntary or Independent (PVI) sector. These settings are supported by organisations like The Pre-school Learning Alliance which is a leading educational charity specialising in the early years.

The VCS also provides many specialist services for disabled children and young people. There are charities and organisations across North Yorkshire providing family friendly information and practical support when needed.

Other VCS areas of work with the 0-5 age range includes

  • Family support services
  • Respite care support
  • Out of School clubs and Extended Services
  • Young mums and dads groups
  • Arts & Media groups
  • Leisure and Sports groups
