Each level of the framework relates to a ‘step up’ in terms of levels of responsibility for the post. Staff would be expected to have greater levels of knowledge, experience and qualifications the higher up the framework they moved. Strategic Leaders / Consultants
Jobs in this level reflect a high degree of expertise and specialism. This will be evident through the qualification and experience requirements for the posts. These posts will usually have a high degree of accountability for performance within their organisation.
Senior and Advanced Practitioners / Service Managers
Posts at this level are for experienced, well qualified people who have probably acquired a post-graduate qualification and can evidence their skills and knowledge in their field of work. These posts have significant roles within their organisation associated with the delivery and/or management of their service area.
Professional / Graduate Practitioners
Jobs at this level will have a variety of responsibilities including management of people, finances and projects. Post holders will possibly be expected to have defined qualifications at NVQ 4 / Degree level and prior experience.
Senior Support Workers
Jobs at this level will usually require people to have some prior experience and/or relevant level of qualification (NVQ 3 - 4 or equivalent). There should be an increased level of responsibility with an expectation that people can assume a degree of responsibility for their area of work. Support may be available for staff to attain further qualifications and training associated with their role.
Support Workers
Jobs in this level may be suited to those seeking training opportunities linked to working with children and young people. There should be support available for post holders to acquire skills and knowledge about the field of work and also acquire relevant qualifications associated with this level of post (NVQ 2 - 3 or equivalent).
Entry Level
Jobs in this level should provide clear training and development opportunities for those wishing to increase their understanding about working with children and young people. This level may include apprentice type posts or work experience opportunities. Qualifications associated with this level will be up to NVQ2 or ‘A’ Level equivalent.
